Construction Inspection
Gibson Associates, P.A. is NJDOT approved for roadway and bridge projects, as well as bridge inspection and construction management. Gibson Associates, P.A. is eager to assist our clients to monitor contractor compliance, and endeavor to ensure that projects are constructed in conformance with the contract plans and specifications, and completed on time and within budget.  We provide supervision of materials testing, public contract administration, including contract disputes, construction claims processing and engineering inspection for heavy construction projects.

Replacement of Glade Road Bridge over Riggins Ditch, Maurice River Township, New Jersey for the County of Cumberland, 2011: Gibson Associates, PA prepared the design, environmental permitting and contract design documents of the prestressed voided slab bridge, and provided construction inspection services to ensure Contractor compliance with plans and specifications, which included maintenance and protection of traffic, staging and phase control and monitoring punch list work. Total construction cost: $112,527.88.

Replacement of Liberty Street Bridge over Cedar Branch, Hammonton, New Jersey for County of Atlantic 2003-2006: Gibson Associates, PA prepared alternative analysis report for four (4) design options, coordinated with County and prime consultant, prepared the design and contract design documents of precast rigid frame bridge construction including final estimate, bid evaluation, shop drawing review, change order review and provided construction inspection services to ensure Contractor compliance with plans and specifications, including maintenance and protection of traffic, staging and phase control and monitoring punch list work. Total construction cost: $937,651.35.

Reconstruction and widening of Avalon Boulevard Bridge over Avalon Canal, Middle Township and the Borough of Avalon, New Jersey for the County of Cape May, 2010 to 2013: Gibson Associates, PA provided construction inspection services to ensure Contractor compliance with the plans and specifications, including maintenance and protection of traffic, staging and phase control for the four (4) phases of the construction. Inspected and recorded the findings for the installation of the pile foundations of the abutments and piers, which included air, slump and temperature testing and reinforcement placement, as required, for all of the concrete utilized in the construction.  Inspections of Handicap Accessibility, ensure proper installation of the HMA base, intermediate and top courses, inspected and ensured proper installation of the temporary and permanent pavement markings, bridge lighting, signal standards and monitoring systems. Prepared and recommended pay estimates, change orders, asphalt price adjustments to the County Engineer and "chaired" various bi-weekly progress meetings. The challenges for this project were the testing of the "lightweight" concrete as specified for the bridge deck, monitoring and recommending the required bulkhead repairs in conjunction with the installation of coffer dams, and monitoring the environmental considerations to conform to the permits. Total project cost: $3,448,774.00.

Emergency culvert replacement on Gum Tree Corner Road (CR 604) over Bishops Run, Stow Creek Township, New Jersey for County of Cumberland 2011 to 2012: Gibson Associates, PA coordinated with County Engineer and NJDEP to procure emergency permit and design replacement culvert structure and ancillary improvements, coordinated with adjacent owners regarding easements, compiled  survey field work and mapping, calculated ROW locations and completed wetlands delineation. Total construction cost: $494,374.50.

Bulkhead project on North Cove Road in Gandy's Beach, Downe Township, Cumberland County for Township of Downe: 2015: Gibson Associates, PA prepared the design, environmental permitting and contract design plans for steel sheet pile bulkhead damaged during Superstorm Sandy, and provided construction inspection services to ensure Contractor compliance with plans and specifications, which included maintenance and protection of overhead utilities, traffic, staging and monitoring punch list work.
